Description: The Habeas SafeList is an "accredited Internet whitelisting service" consisting of these elements:
- Habeas Audit: an assessment of your sender reputation and email marketing practices. Your sender IP addresses are placed on the SafeList only after you successfully comply with all the requirements of the audit
- SafeList: your presence on the list gets your emails preferential treatment from cooperating ISPs, email account providers and anti-spam technology providers
- Monitoring tools: provides information on the status of the sender IPs listed on the SafeList
- Delivery resolution services: help if your email gets blocked by an ISP or blacklist
- Compliance verification: SafeList accreditation is not done on a one-time basis. Your practices and policies are monitored to ensure they continue to meet the requirements of the SafeList.
Benefits: Advice and help with deliverability best practices and problems. Feedback on how participating ISPs are treating your email. Improved deliverability at participating ISPs, plus fewer restrictions on delivery speeds into these ISPs.
Reach: "...more than a million email networks at ISPs, Fortune 1000 companies, educational institutions, government entities and small businesses worldwide."
In their own words:
Erick Mott (Director of Marketing and Corporate Communications) and Des Cahill (CEO) told me:
"Habeas' certification process provides senders with the necessary information to improve their email and Web-based programs and operations, and provides emails receivers, such as ISPs, assurance that the certified sender has been both rigorously certified and is continually monitored for compliance."
"In order to certify senders, we employ both objectively measurable criteria on the sender (e.g. levels of consumer complaints, existence of authentication) as well as looking at more business practices areas such as the sender's privacy policy and their methods of obtaining consumer permission."
"Our certification is unique in combining the objective criteria (which is how ISPs will measure the trustworthiness of the sender) with the business practices examination (which are the root causes of the issues manifested in the objective criteria measurements). In this way, Habeas is able to help senders see themselves or their reputation as seen by the ISPs and to help them identify and fix any root issues in their online business practices."
Additional notes: Habeas has collaborations with numerous email marketing service providers and agencies. Check with your ESP/agency to see if such a collaboration already exists and how you might benefit.
