The newsletter footer
Previous topic: The newsletter header
Next topic: Structure
The bottom of the newsletter is where you can tuck away your various administrative and legal notices. The objective here is to ensure that you include all the information that a reader might need. At the least, you should display the following:
- The unsubscribe instructions and/or link.
- The subscribe instructions and/or link
- Any relevant website links, such as to archives, advertising information or sister publications, websites and other resources.
- Your copyright notice.
- An email address or link for feedback.
- Any information required by relevant anti-spam legislation, such as a physical address.
Why send subscription info to subscribers?
There are two very good reasons for doing this. First, if your newsletter enthuses your subscribers, then the latter will be passing them on to friends and colleagues. They, in turn, may want to sign up themselves, and they'll need instructions.
Second, the instructions are handy for former subscribers returning to the fold after a temporary absence.
