You might be forgiven a wry smile when I tell you that this article examining the choice between managing email delivery in-house or outsourcing was written by an email service provider. No prizes for guessing which option sounds best.
But it would be wrong to assume the advice isn't useful. On the contrary, Spencer Kollas has, for example, a list of 14 excellent deliverability-oriented questions to ask of a potential service.
