It's a theme taken on in this new article from MarketingSherpa, which invites a few experts to talk about how you best integrate direct mail with email.

The article's a little disjointed, but there are lots of little snippets of info and ideas in there to help you plan your own efforts in this area.

A few days ago I had a fascinating chat with a company who markets farm equipment using email and catalogs. They have a nervous time in March waiting for the "right" weather to mail out their catalogs.

If the catalog arrives on a sunny day, the farmers are out working and the mail gets discarded unread. If it's raining or icy cold, the catalog gets a great response. The same applies to their emails. Best day to send out your campaigns? Check the weather forecast first...
