Survey tidbits to tide you over the weekend

surveyJPY surveyed 500 business email users. According to their press release:
  • 75% had at least 3 email addresses
  • 13.8% used ten or more addresses
  • 59.6% send and receive business email from personal email accounts
  • 72.9% use business email accounts to send and receive personal email
What does this tell us?

B2C marketers shouldn't discount typical business email software like Outlook, just because they're mailing to consumers.

And B2B marketers shouldn't discount typical consumer email clients (like the major webmail services) just because they're mailing to business folk.

Meanwhile a survey by ESP Newsweaver of Irish businesses conducting email marketing revealed current motivations for doing so and future intentions. For example...
  • 88% are using email to build relationships with existing customers (almost three times the number using email for acquisition)
  • 60% expect to add personalization in the next six months
  • over 40% plan to use dynamic content tailored to reader profiles
If that's an indicator that relevancy of marketing emails will likely increase, then the onus is on the rest of us to keep pace or be ignored.
