		<description>Thanks Kelly. I&#039;ve had something similar happen to me, where the new owner complained about something that was made very clear in sign-up and welcome mail copy. The misunderstanding was resolved once we both realized that they, of course, never saw either.</description>

Transferred ownership typically happens when people leave a job, as you mention in bullet #1. Personal experience has shown that those who inherit the address in question are more likely to complain as they believe the marketer is spamming &lt;i&gt;them&lt;/i&gt;, and don&#039;t take into consideration that permission was tied with the original owner. The marketer has no way of knowing that the ownership was transferred and the new &quot;subscriber&quot; has no way of knowing (based on how the emails are forwarded) that these marketing emails are inherited.
