Privacy policy
I'm no legal expert but I expect you're wondering whether anything nasty happens if you use this site or submit your email for inclusion on the e-newsletter address list?
Let's start with the website.
I don't personally use cookies, pop-ups, popunders etc. and am not able to identify or track individuals using the site.
Some of the third-party services and advertisers on this site may well place cookies on your browser or use web beacons for gathering information. Google, for example, uses a DART cookie so it can serve ads to you based on your visit to this and other sites on the Internet.
You can learn about cookies here, web beacons here and managing cookies with your browser here. You can opt out specifically of the use of the DART cookie by visiting the Google ad and content network privacy policy.
Basically, I don't invade your privacy, I respect your anonymity until such time as you actively decide to identify yourself in an email or otherwise, and I respect the privacy and confidentiality of any information you do choose to send me, whether via email or otherwise. Which means it doesn't get passed on to others, unless the courts force me to or it's necessary to fulfil the request you made of me (see newsletter privacy below).
Now for the newsletter.
Your email address is only added to the mailing list for the site newsletter if you specifically requested to be added and you respond positively to a confirmation email asking if you're sure. You can take your address of this list any time you like by using the link provided in each email I send you. Removal is immediate.
Your email address will not be passed on to others in any way or form with the following exceptions...
1. If the law requires it of me, such as through a court order.
2. Your addresses are stored at a third-party email service (currently UK-based Pure) who provide the email list management and delivery services I use to actually publish the newsletter. This third party only has those addresses so they can send my emails to you. They do not have any other rights over those addresses and use them for no other purpose. This is normal practice.
If you've any questions about this policy, get in touch.
